I don't agree with the statement that 20K is not much money-to whom? In the near future, if you don't own-you won't play. Southern should cut its losses and save up. Even if the FS opens Tellico back up-it will be a couple of trail 1-like "roads". Somebody wake up-I can't be the only one that realizes this? Or is there just honor in the fight?

PS-If someone is getting paid for the fight-their opinion should not count.

I agree with you Steve. I really don't know what the solution is though. I hate to just give up and let them steal our land, but to what extent do we keep fighting and exhausting funds that could be used elsewhere? The principle of them stealing what is ours might be a worthy cause to fight, but the trails as we knew them are gone forever either way.

We might as well face the facts. If the trails at Tellico are ever reopened they will be neutered to the extent that none of us will even travel up there to ride anyways. The days of wheeling tellico are nothing more than a memory now.

I believe the root of the problem to be the fact that you've got government employees directly in bed with our enemies (TU) - with that scenario you can't win.

"Also cooperates with coldwater fisheries managers in Great Smoky Mountains National Park (NPS) and the USFS, and routinely communicates with stakeholder groups (e.g. Trout Unlimited)."
They are catering directly to Trout Unlimited!
They don't work for us - they work for TU!
Apparently, we aren't a "stakeholder group".

I think we just need to cut our losses on Tellico and move on. My 2 cents

Just one fact, which may be of interest - the fellow who runs the Tellico Trout Hatchery is Rob Theurer, son of Roger Theurer, the SFWDA VP.  Rob has been a behind-the-scenes supporter of the RT efforts, providing boots-on-the-ground awareness and ground-truth about what's really going on up there.

Sounds to me like we have a supporter on the inside, Jake. I think you read that wrong.
