After reading about this on various forums it pretty much sounds like a done deal. Just one less place to go.
I'll really start to worry when the Gov. starts closing down the National Parks to RV's.

The US Park Service has been trying for years to close the Parks to all traffic.
I worked at Yosemite many years ago and traffic was a big topic.
If the Park Service could implement it they would like Park access to be limited to shuttle buses only with all private vehicles restricted off the Park.

Going to have to make some big parking lots. Actually at the Grand Canyon last summer we rode the shuttle buses, never met so many rude foreigners before in my life. Made the ride unpleasant. Guess this is something else to look forward to.

Hate to hear about Aetna. MTTR was told it was closed a few years ago, but then got opened back up. Hopefully this can be worked out again.

As to the parks, alot depends on the individual park. Urban, and crowded parks are pushing it, but several out West (Big Bend, Canyonlands, etc.) even have backcountry roads for mild trail riding. Even had a Park Ranger suggest taking the Potash Road out of the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands back to Moab on  our first trip after he saw we had a jeep. Grand Canyon (South Rim) is a real NOT fun experience on the west side where you are required to ride the shuttles. East isn't too bad, and can't be limited due to it being a main highway but can be real crowded depending on the time of year. If you really want to experience the Grand Canyon, go to the North Rim. Took a "gravel road" that ended up being more of a trail (had to take it real easy in the Grand Cherokee). Only saw 2 vehicles that day on the drive. Got to experience the canyon without parking lots, or fences. Cool.
