The City of Madison is announcing  plans to establish a dog park along the Mill Creek Greenway. The Mill Creek Greenway was chosen as the location for the new dog park because of its abundance of shade trees and a terrain of gently rolling grassy meadows.  The Mill Creek Greenway will become a popular designation for those residents who enjoy the outdoors and the location of a dog park will only enhance the outdoor activities available for residents.

The dog park will be developed in phases with the initial phase encompassing an area of 1.43 acres enclosed in a 4 ft. chain link fence and divided into three separate areas. There will be a 20 ft. X 30 ft. staging area at the entrance of the park to provide an enclosed area for dog owners to unleash their pet before allowing them to enter the park. The remainder of the park will be divided into play areas with one area designated for smaller dog weighing 25 pounds or less and a play area for larger dogs.  Drinking water will be provided for both pets and humans in the initial phase of development as well as trash receptacles and waste bag dispensers.

Future improvements will include parking lot access from the new Balch Road extension, a pavilion, park benches, a water feature for dogs to play in, an area to wash pets, and obstacle course.

Lindsey walks her dog along this trail already and it has a water feature... it's called "the creek".  LOL  Fortunately, it's a pretty clean creek...
