A guy that myself and Taylor know has a 1998 Wrangler that he is wanting to lift. Here is what he says about it... "just got done ordering my Rubicon Express 3.5 lift, Rubicon adjustable front trac bar and doetsch DT3000 shocks...i have my 33 TSL's with my black rock crawlers under it." He is a young guy (around 17 years old and just moved here from GA). Do you guys know who'd do him right in helping him put on the lift? I got my truck lift at Southern Offroad in Pelham, but thats pretty far.

Thanks for the reply. I was kinda fishing for someone's reccommendation or opinion on a good place. Not just location. I probably should have worded my post better. |

Does he want to do it himself, with a little help, or have a shop do it?

Danny at http://rocketcityoffroad.com/ has done a lot of lift installs over the years ... probably does a few each week. He did the independent to solid axle conversion on my runner. Recommended....

I could give him a hand working on it and I've got room to work on it at my place if he doesn't.

Well adding a lift to a TJ is pretty easy. Danny can do the work and I'd recommend him. If he wants to save money and learn how to do it, there are several here who will help. I personally did my 2" spacer lift and 3" Tera lift in the parking lot of the apartment I was in at the time in one day each. Couple of things he needs to consider. Is he doing a transfercase drop or SYE rear driveshaft? He will probably need one or the other to get rid of driveline vibrations. If he goes the SYE route (better option in my opinion, but more costly and time consumeing), he will need adjustable lower (and maybe upper) rear control arms to get the proper pinion angle. Also I found out the hard way that when rotateing the pinion for a lift like that, you need to reexamine the tracbar relocation bracket. I ripped the bracket off the axle and ended up rewelding it and repositioing it to get a better angle where it wasn't under so much stress (the longer bracket when rotated makes the trackbar put pressure on the bracket at the axle and also gives more leverage to it).
