As per a post on their Facebook page, Durhamtown Tellico will close permanently Sept. 8.

Here's their post:

Thanks to the Division of Minerals ,Energy and Land Rersources,
Durhamtown TELLICO NC will close on Sept 8 permanently They are declaring the Timber cutting on the property is for the sole purpose of building atv trails. Therefore we must comply by commercial development standards. Permits and paper work will excede $350,000 or I can fight them in Federal Court. This is our government still controlling our private property rights. I am sadden to announce this for I have spent over $250,000 and operated in a professional standard of land preservation. 2 govt agencies agree with me buy the 3rd wants the ultimate motive.
Timber cutting has been part of this property for over 100 years

hate to hear this-nice park. I would place a donation box in the middle of the park and make someone prove it was a commercial business.

Has he contacted BRC, Southern, or ORBA for legal advice/assistance?

This is a shame, who needs to receive the petition to keep the astronomical fees down?

There may be a little more to this story than how it reads right now.

I'm sure there's a lot more. Just a bit discouraging.

I posted something about it on the SFWDA Facebook page, and it seems to have generated some activity, Ray Stanley is a/l aware of the situation.
