I need a cherokee body that had the 4.0 in it. The Body doesn't have to be in great cosmetic shape, just has to be straight...like no bends, or dents or large chunks missing from copious amounts of rust. Some surface rust is fine, the paint color or condition doesn't matter (I'm gonna repaint it anyway), but it does need to have all the windows and windsheild intact. With the exterior covered let's move to the interior. The interior doesn't matter so much just as long as it has a carpet that isn't torn or what-not. Preferably I'd like a gray interior cause I'm just swapping my old wrecked cherokee's stuff into the donor body. If it's not a gray interior than it can't have any holes or anything in the seats. If the interior is dirty or moldy or whatever, that's fine...a good shampooing and that's fixed..just can't be any tears. If the interior is grey than as long as the carpet and passenger side plastic paneling is ok than the seats I don't care about, i'll just swap the seats I've got into it. The interior must have a dash! My current dash is now...um...shaped like an upside down "V". The body doesn't need to have a motor or transmission or transfer-case...I've got those...it just needs to be capable of being rebuilt into a daily driver. So...with that said, leave me a message |

If a D30 Front axle is a direct bolt-in replacement in a 2wd than a 2wd will be fine. I've got the axle, transmission, transfer case, and drive-shafts to put in it. My totalled 4wd Cherokee is the donor for the axles and stuff. I've got the drivetrain...just need to know if it's capable of being swapped into a 2wd without too much trouble. if you have all the stuff you say you have it can be a direct bolt in...no problem at all....the 2wd has a "dud" axle in place of the d30...it has all the same control arms, trac bar, coils, tie rod and drag link...so since you have the motor tranny t case and front axle and driveshafts it should be a bolt in...id say go with a 2wd...they are much easier to find and are cheaper... |

Wait... If it's a late model cherokee, will my motor bolt into it? I know the transmission should be fine, but I've got the 4.0 High Output from a '94 Cherokee... |

Why bother? Cherokees are so cheap that it wouldn't be worth the hassle of swapping all this crap over and getting it working again. Buying one with a bad motor and swapping in yours is one thing but I see a huge headache in transfering all your parts to another shell. Just my $0.02

unless you get a good shell for about $200 or $300 bucks...i come across all sorts of motor less shells that would be awesome for this.
and yes all your stuff will work/bolt up with years from 87 to 2001 2 or 4 door 2 or 4wheeldrive... as long as you kept the comp and all wiring from first jeep and cooling stuff....

its not so much a hassle. its a learning experience for me. gotta learn mechanics somehow. Pops is a certified mechanic, and I'm young and need to learn how to do the works so...buying a shell is cheaper than buying another car, and it's good experience for me to get my hands dirty. I'm kinda excited about rebuilding a jeep.

A guy I work with has a 95 with a 4.0 in it. Still runs and drives. Auto tranny, alloy wheels, black with tan int.He wants 2K for it. Body is straight with one spot on the lower rear of the drivers door where it got bumped. Its 4wd as well. Give me a call at 256-347-3419 or e-mail me if your interested. Its in Huntsville too. |
