Hi all,

I made it here.  Glad to be back down South.  I would love to come to the meetings and all, but my little guy has football practice (my luck) and that's on Thursday.  I'm sure trail rides are Saturdays (game days) so I'm pretty locked down during football season.  But if anybody is close by Falkville, I'd love to just meet up.  When I lived here last year, I didn't make any effort to meet fellow wheelers, and it wasn't very fun.   I JUST met a family up in Ohio two weeks before I left and got to go wheeling...  I need to make an effort, so here I am! :)  Even just chewing the cud on a Friday night (or any night, for that matter) is cool.  I am a night owl, don't know anybody out here - and wish I could make the meeting this Thursday...  I'm sure you're all real cool and I was really looking forward to meetings and all... but I've never been "that guy" who bails on football practice.... not good for the team.  Anyway, if there's any fellow wheelers close by who want to meet up outside of the meeting time  -  that would be so cool.  I'm not sure what time the meetings typically end, but I will try to see if I can get someone to help me make Thursday's meeting happen.. That or if practice gets cancelled!  I just can't be the flake.  Hope to meet everyone real soon - I'll be at every meeting/ride once football season ends, for sure!

Also, not knowing where the Golden Rule is, does anyone have the actual address so I can put it in my GPS in case I can attend this Thursday?  Thanks much!  I saw the map, but have become tethered to the GPS as I learn where everything is at...

Where are there legit trails in Bankhead?  I knew there were atv trails but didn't know of any that allowed other vehicles.  I'm in Decatur and I have a couple of jeep buddies that would love to jump in on a run if you guys don't mind us tagging along.

there are several old roads/ trails up that way.. most of them are old logging roads, its not much of a challenge, but its fun to hit some muddy old roads and just enjoy the scenery..  there are a few places up there that run the power line rows that have some awesome hill climbs, when it rains, the loose rock and mud make it pretty fun.. shoot me a pm and ill give ya my contact info so that next time we go you can join us if you want....

Heck ya -

I haven't done the power line runs up there, but I think I found the same ones which run near Roundtop... They have to run over to Bankhead.  mYJay - that sounds great - and Drake - if you want to go and it's just us - I'll show ya what I know... It sounds like mYJay would be the better tour guide, though!  I'm always down for exploring even more up there - it is scenic - and I've been plodding along with the GPS...  That will be really fun when it rains - believe me, I wouldn't make a run in there without a yank-buddy, because plenty of people have stories about a LONG WALK out when the simple stuff grabbed 'em stuck.  Anyway - I'm on for Sunday - or even a night run this Saturday... Just need time to make a few hot thermos loads of java - but I'm usually good to go on a moment's notice.  Cool to see a few other people out in this neck....

Sounds like a plan.  My X is down at the moment as far as trailability goes.  Having to modify some Calmini TRA's to fit on my stock steering setup (sorta bashed the ish out of them at Mountainside).  It's just been too damn cold and I don't have a garage where I can work on it.  Hoping to knock it out this Sunday if possible.  Once I have those tweaked, I'll be good to go and I'm sure my buddies and their jeeps will be more than ready when the time comes.

Awesome - I have to head out to visit family in the last part of December until the second week of Jan...  Understand you completely about the cold and no garage...  Luckily I did my in-depth maintenance when I DID have a garage in Ohio.
