The federal government has proposed a huge expansion of its land holdings and control of private land in central Alabama (see below for more details and links to details). Since the proposal has been under the radar of most forest landowners and the comment period ends September 7, 2010.  we hope you will request that the comment period be extended so all those that might be affected by this expansion will have an opportunity to present their comments. 
You can also view the entire proposal at the website below.  A meeting has been set for Brent, AL on September 2, 2010, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Brent Elementary School gymnasium, 160 4th Street, Brent, Bibb County, Alabama.
