I'm actually not sure.  I do know that it is the original tranny with the quadratrac t-case.  It is an automatic - I do know that much.  Interested?

It should be a TH400, That's what was in our 78 Waggy with the quadra-trac.

Is it running? What shape is the Quadra-trac in? Clutch cones in good shape or slipping. My brother may be interested, the Waggy's clutch cones are slipping.

I haven't driven it personally but the guy I bought it from says it is running and drivable.  I've got to go pick it up in the next week or so.  He says that the 4wd works.  When I bought it he cranked it up for me so I could hear it run.  (I'm getting it for the engine)  We didn't drive it anywhere because it had a very low dry-rotten tire.  My word is as good as his.

You will be able to check the clutch cones by driving slow figure 8's in a parking lot. If it jerks some like it's slipping the clutch cones are and will need replaceing (not a good thing, only one place started making replacements a couple of years ago, before that, you had to replace the whole Tcase, and the cones alone were about $350).

I'll be at the meeting and I'll see my brother this weekend and see if he is interested.

I'll check as soon as I can.  Doc offered me his trailer a while back to tow it in to Huntsville and I need to check with him to see if the offer still stands.  One of the tires is badly dryrotten, otherwise, the guy I bought it from says it would make it no problem other than a leaky power steering pump.  See if you brother wants it if I can diagnose that it is ok.

James

Fire me an e-mail at cj8lvr@yahoo.com I've got some questions for you about your scrambler if you don't mind.  You have apparently exceeded the # of PM's you can get with this forum.  Thanks.  -Jake

How much for the Axles?  What gearing are they?  Will they fit a TJ?

Marine, these won't work very well for you because the rear has an off-center diff and the diff on the front is on the pass side, yours is on the drivers side.

Ahh, thank you scoutman.  I really don't know much about axles and such.  I was just hoping that they would fit up with my TJ as the 3.07 gears are really not that great for crawling

I am going to burn my clutch if I go up a really steap hill just to keep from stalling or going to fast...

Jake could you get me some dimensions on the springs, length, width, etc.  If not I'll get in touch with you when I get back in town on Friday.

Thanks,

I can do that Bob.  I'll try to do it in the next few days.  I may be able to do it as early as this afternoon.  Had a guy inquire about the axles and may come up from Florida this weekend to get 'em so the springs may be out of the Jeep as early as Saturday.

Case,

I removed 4 nests from various spots around the Jeep.  Three looked like normal wasp nests but the fourth, the one around the grill on the drivers side looked more like a hornets nest than that of a wasp.  I think that is what stung us.  I went around the Jeep punching body panels and nothing flew out so I guess I got 'em all.
