question about a warn upright winch

   I have an 8274 Warn upright winch and I took it off the RoosterII last year and when I went to get it out of the corner yesterday there was a puddle of oil under it.  I wanted to know if any of you know how to check the oil level and what kind of oil should I put back in it?
