Offroaders are not going to bring back Tellico. Southern should save the money to be spent on lawyers and print up banners that can be displayed on vehicles to read: "I used to come here 3-4 times a year and spend $400 on average, for food, supplies, parts, gas and lodging. That totals $1200-$1600 a year.  Now count all the vehicles you see with this banner. If this matters-call the Forest Service-they closed Tellico." With these banners, Southern could do Tailgating like sit-ins at Murphy and then again at Tellico Plains. If we had a large enough turnout with media coverage-it might help.
Oh-Banners could have names and phone numbers to call.

What can we do that isn't illegal, won't hurt the fish, but will generally irritate the fishermen???  Angry

Fill up all the parking lots with rigs and trailers and just have a sit in BBQ.

Let the air out of their tires while they stand nut deep in ice cold water.

Drop a duce just upstream of them and let er float down.

Show up early and park rigs in all the available pull off spots.

Loud music disturbs their peace and quiet

The possibilities are endless!

My thoughts...
Park in one of the little pulloffs the Trout fishermen use to park their Subarus and then walk down into the river with a Zebco reel with a gigantic shiny salt water lure on the end and cast as close as I can to the trout fishermen splashing to my hearts content.  Might need a fishing permit just in case anybody from the FS or Fish and Game consider what I'm doing "fishing."
I think getting enough of us up there blocking their little pulloffs ought to piss 'em off plenty.

No fishing permits, that supports the cause.

No support for the local guys either.  As bad as it sucks, the impact to them has to suffer to show the effects of this decision.  Buy gas and groceries well before you go in and if you camp, it needs to be in a free site, no pay sites.

That's a serious issue - the FS is realizing that with Tellico closed, nobody is using the tons of nice upgraded campsites they spent a fortune building in the area.

Be careful in this line of thinking - I believe there are federal (and most states have) laws which prohibit harassment of fishermen or hunters doing their thing legally.  so if nothing else, just go put on some waders and go stand near the TU wonk and fish while splashing around a lot.

The people who actually live in North Carolina/TN are the ones that have to wake up. Pissing off the fishermen/women will just add fuel to the fire. We need pictures of the logging and have them to display at the sit-ins. Anything would have to be supported by SFWDA and it's membership. Those that talk to the officiers of Southern-see if they are interested.
Flyers could be printed and handed out to every motel, gas station, rest.,auto/tire repair place within 10-15 mile radius. To avoid over-exposure every time a flyer is handed out a red dot could be placed on the business door so other Southern members know its been done.

Posting on Southern's forum is useless-Doc's emotional post on Oct 16th has gotten zero responses. If you are part of Southern's inner circle-use your connection thru back door channels.

Agreed I could post a video of the wind on U-tube and get more hits. As sad as it is Pirate has the biggest following.
