I had a suspicion you'd be the one answering up. That diff seems like the path of least resistance to match this 4.30 taco rear, I won't have to regear anything. Swap for an IFS rear axle with 4.10's :? I can't find an example online of people welding the taco diffs. Am I missing something, is it a bad idea? |

I'll swap you for the IFS rear.
The Taco diff can be welded up similar to the 4cyl 8". The only problem is you cant get a good weld from the inner side gear (closest to the ring gear) to the carrier. You can weld the outer gear to the carrier, spiders to the carrier, and then weld the inner side gear to the spiders. Or you can use the 1/4" plate method, but I would still weld the outer side gear to the carrier to take some of the stress off the cross pin.
If you'll take it apart and clean it up I don't care to weld it for you.
