Hello all... The name is Monty (BigM) and my little guy is Dylan.  I moved to AL last year, but then came up to Ohio because the significant other's kids were here.  She isn't happy here, and I miss Alabama.  Put more correctly, I HATE Ohio.  I just "fit" better in Alabama, and I'm tired of these "Buckeye for Life" fans givin' me grief about coming from "redneck country."  Even though I grew up in California, the South has been in my blood since being stationed at Keesler AFB, MS.  Anyway, I haven't done ANY wheeling in Ohio, and I haven't met ANYBODY up here who just stops to say "hey" or anything.  If I wanted this, I would have stayed in California where at least I loved the beaches! lol   Anyway, I'm packing as I speak to move back DOWN to Alabama.  Not sure how many of ya'll know Falkville (but probably some).  I like it.  Small town, very friendly people - and well, just MY TYPE.  I have a feeling ya understand.  My little guy plays football, LOVES going wheelin... and even though we have a nice house here... the missus is just always depressed, and that's bad for me.  She's always talking about moving back to CA, and well... my rig is NOT going to head back there.  Well, I don't want to bore you folks with a book (I write, so that's easy to do!) lol.   But when I was there (up til December last year) I didn't make enough EFFORT to look up wheelin' folk.  That's my bad, so I can't complain "I never got to go wheeling."  Rather, I didn't have anybody to GO wheelin' with.  I've done this long enough to know I get in trouble by myself.  :D  So anyway, as I'm packing up to leave the Buckeye (worthless nut) state, I'm hoping Alabama works out better this time around.  Last time I was staying with friends, trying to sort life out.  I like the family-oriented style of this site, and ya'll look like good folk.  I don't have too much to pack, and am trying to line up an apartment in Falkville.  My little guy played football there, and his coach has his number waiting for him! lol  He won't have missed a season.  It's a little topsy-turvy in the stomach, packing up from what was supposed to be a "dream house," but all the beautiful "house" in the world doesn't matter if a guy isn't happy.  I need to be there for the start of school in August, and as soon as I get an apartment lined up, I'm on my way.  So hopefully I'll meet some of you, because I sure miss the four-wheeling our gang did back in California in the '90s.  That was my "family," and I wish they didn't all forget about their love for four-wheeling, and how nice it made life.  Bye for now!  Oh, here's a pic of my rig at the Rubicon in CA last year:

Well Monty, let me be the first to welcome you BACK HOME!

Our club is family oriented and you sound like you'll fit right in.

You've likely already been to this page but if not check it out, it'll tell you all about where and when our meetings are, requirements for membership, etc.

Again, welcome.

Yes, I did check that out.  Man, I'm SO looking forward to meeting up with everyone.  I can't wait to get back down there - sooner than later.  My little guy will have football practice (probably on Thursdays) but I won't let that get in the way of driving down and meeting anyone even if it's an "off day."  Games are Saturdays, but if there are any trail rides on Sundays - I'm there.  I'm really looking forward to joining in on the emergency assistance side of everything, too.  Way back in the day I was a member of BAER in CA.  That is the Bay Area Emergency React unit.  I did not make enough effort to meet people when I was there, and I regret it.  I love the South, and have felt SO out of place up here in Ohio.  I think there's a great group near Canton, but I just found that out... Again, this time I will make more of an effort.  There's a few things I'd like to do to my Jeep, (rock sliders, and go from my BB to a 4" coil lift with an SYE and a belly up).  I'm hoping I meet some folks that can help me with that, as I will help with the stuff I'm good at.  I love wrenching around and will gladly go where needed to help anyone work on their rig, in whatever capacity I can.  I'm not into welding, but some of the more maintenence-oriented stuff is a LOT easier with two sets of hands (like mating up the diff covers without smearing a good RTV bead).  Hey, I'm just looking forward to REAL people, again.  Thanks for the welcome, CJ8, and kudos on being fortunate to have two Scramblers!

Monty

You are welcome, and there's a little story about the second one.  I'm very grateful to have won it.  Here it is.

I won it just 3 weeks ago tonight!  Still can't believe it's mine.  Very thankful.

By the way.... buy a few tickets for this one.  Like they say, somebody's got to win it!
