Do all 16.5" wheels not have safety beads or does this just pertain to stock wheels?  I don't want to get new wheels and not get the safety bead.

The only ones I have ever seen that had the safety beads were stock rims.

Why would they keep making these rims?  Especially when they know of the problem and they are pretty widely used in the 4x4 world.  I want a plain 16.5" black rockcrawler rim 8 lug, but with a safety bead.

Why not just weld on your own safty bead? We did some Trail Readys (alum) and they worked flawlessly...

Did you just run a continuous surface bead, or tach in some wire in a circle?  I have seen both used effectivly... Shoot - I have even heard of people using fiberglass resin to create a safety bead.

Are you talking about a weld on TR beadlock ring or a weld on safety bead

I would like to run the H2 aluminum rims but they are 17" and my tire choices are limited for a 17" rim.  The tire I want to run puts me back at a 16.5" rim which narrows my choices to keep running the hummer rims (too heavy), buy expensive rims, get steel rims (prefered option but no safety bead).

BTW I would like to run a 38x14.5 TSL SX tire but with a H2 rim.

So get some stock steel rims with the safety bead, pick up a weld-on beadlock kit, and you get about an 8" wide rim that would be perfect for those tires and are not too awful heavy.

Travis had the 16.4 TR Beadlocks with the 38" SXs... Nathan (CustomFabBoy) welded an aluminum rod creating an inner saftey bead on the 16.5s
