"Top speed is claimed to be 120 mph, with 60 mph coming in just 5 seconds when unladen and 18 seconds with maximum GCWR. Towing capacity is promised to be substantial, though it will depend on the version selected, with 5,000-, 10,000-, 15,000- and 20,000-pound versions available. The availability of a fifth-wheel hookup promises a GCWR tow rating of as much as 35,000 pounds. That means an Atlis truck's capability would range from something like a Chevrolet Colorado to a Silverado HD. In terms of off-road capability, ground clearance will be either 12 or 15 inches depending on spec. Wading depth is said to be 1 meter.

In terms of range, there will be 300-, 400-, and 500-mile range options, all of which apply when the truck is unladen. But the biggest trick is a targeted 15-minute full charge, which Atlis says it has so far tested with small-scale batteries.
"

I'm gonna be from Missouri on some of these claims.  But it does sound interesting...

With 500 mile unladen range, it'll probably only have a 200 mile range loaded. Even with a 15min recharge, that'll be a lot of stops when travelling. IDK. Doesn't seem too economical. LOL

I believe that within 20 years, small internal combustion engines will largely be a thing of the past in USA.  Heavy equipment will probably not go electric until we have small workable fuel cells or nuclear or dilithium crystals.  There may be requirements like loggers and farmers and such who do not have access to grid-sourced electric power which may remain ICE.  Lawnmowers, chainsaws, dirtbikes, commuter cars, light duty pickups will all be electric within 20 years.

Personally, I am a lot more worried about USG taking away my right to transport myself anonymously than I am in whether my vehicle's motive force is ICE or electric.  I foresee a time when the road will know who you are, how fast you are going, the fact that you rollo'ed that last stop sign while listening to death metal and how many times you picked your nose on the way to work.

I hope I am dead before that happens. I always want the option to drive my old junk. A gallon of gas may be $30 dollars though. I see gasoline in passenger cars being mainly for hobbyists in my Life.

I'd be behind nuclear powered vehicles. Imagine running for a year or so on a single "tank" of fuel. I'm with you on the rest, Doc. I also have issue with the batteries in electric cars. How green is it when your old batteries have to be disposed of in the same way as nuclear waste?
