Easter Ride 2016 in Northwest Madison County

The Madsion County Sheriff's Office will maintain a presence on Easter weekend in the area of Bingham, Coal Mine and Bice Mountains in NW Madison County. Since 2014 at the request of some land owners in those areas the Sheriff's Office has maintained a presence on Easter weekend to deter unauthorized persons and vehicles from participating in what had become known as the "Easter Ride". Some land owners had suffered damaged property and theft over these weekend events. Some land owners are further concerned of the possibility of injuries or loss of life during these events. Our presence is intended to relieve them of those concerns.
The TVA has an easement over the property where power lines and towers are located. However, the property immediately beneath these areas is private property and not part of any "public land". In previous years the "Easter Ride" has damaged this private property.
Person interested in the riding activity taken place in past years can look at other locations where the use of the vehicles and riding is sponsored, encouraged, and welcomed. One such location is Hale Mountain OHV Park (www.halemountainohvpark.com), just North of New Market where an "Easter Ride" is sponsored on Easter weekend.
