I am very happy with my Magellan Platinum and the software that came with it. Garmin makes a good one too. Best bet is to visit their websites and find the one with the features you want, then shop around. I got mine at Costco!

I use the Garmin eMap with a RAM mount and cigarette lighter adapter. I've been very pleased with it.

I second the Garmin eMap. The GPS store in Decatur even rated it as their best overall GPS....too bad Garmin decided to discontinue it. It had the best combination of features for the price of any of their units. You can still pick them up new and off eBay.

There are several sites that I found that compare various units.  One of my requirements was for the unit to work with an external antenna.  I have the Garmin GPSMAP 76....I wish I had gotten the 76S with more memory.
