Winning a (o).

He is just the electroshock therapy they need down there.  Bama needs to move on from the WWBD (What Would Bear Do) thinking.  Having Spurier wearing the crimson and white would go a long way towards doing that if he could put that program back on track to beating Tennessee and Auburn, winning SEC championships, playing on New Years Day and contending for national championships.

They need a major change down there.  Bringing in another Tuscaloosa good ‘ole boy retread like Oliver ain’t gonna cut it.  They will just get 4 more years of poor to mediocre football.  They need a big name proven winner like a Spurier or a Switzer to shake things up and clean out the brain-dead WWBD crowd down there.

spurier wins though and that makes him one hell of a coach.

however, unless hes being forced out of south carolina I don't see him leaving.  He's had a few years to get a program started.  If you don't think South Carolina is gonna be good in the coming years you don't pay enough attention.  I don't see why he would leave to start another program when he's fixing to be back at the top with the one he just built.

For some people its more about having control of their destiny.  Spurier has full control in South Carolina and he ain't gonna give that up to go to Bama and be told he's no Bear Bryant.

I totaly disagree with him having control of his destiny at SC.  Unless he wants his legacy to be that he went out a failure at Washington and an average coach at a mediocre SC football team that never won an SEC championship.  I don't think he wants that destiny.

SC football won't be mediocre for long.  It's mediocre now and thats a big improvement from what it was when Spurier took over.  he's only been there what 2 years?  3?  Give him enough time to recruit a full football team and we will see what happens.  Good wide recievers flock to his teams because he runs such a high powered air game...Pass protection in all of NCAA football leaves much to be desired.  With his highly mobile QB who I think is a sophmore, he shouldn't find any problem scoring in the coming years.

I'll be very surprised if Bama lands a former national champion coach. Why would they want to put up with all the Bama- **it? Those coaches are already rich so it's not for the money. Bama will probably get an up and coming coach with a good record but no title.

I will bet you a cold drink that at the end of the 2008 season, SC will not be ranked in the top 20 in the coaches' poll.
