Well, I've searched and searched but can't seem to find it in the forum here -

Where is a good place that will refill a CO2 tank in (or around) Huntsville?

I thought we had a thread in here at one time but can't find it.

I've been taking mine over to Decatur where there's a place but would like to find a place here in town if possible.

Anybody?

If there are any paintball fields/shops in town, they usually have a compressor to fill the marker tanks and scuba tanks with.  The one behind Intergraph is no longer but not sure about the one on Hwy 72 towards Athens.  I've been out of that sport several years so I don't know where all the fields are now.

A-1 doesn't fill anymore? I've got two tanks and both were filled there. It has been awhile-they are on Oakwood east of the Parkway.

The Fire Extinguisher shop on Oakwood just east of the Parkway (north of University) is where I've taken mine in the past.  Not the cheapest and I THINK they go to the place in Decatur as well.

I'd like to find out where in Decatur that place is so I can run my CO2 tank there myself (I'm at Intergraph during the day).

If you are exchanging a tank, A-1 is great.  If you want to keep you tank, I think you are better off taking it to Decatur.

I went to a place off Meridian across from JF Drake a few years ago. It was a fire ext place. I dunno if its still there though. It was at the end of the street that AllGas was on.

I just ran into this a month or so ago...  The lady on Oakwood (A-1 fire and safety) will exchange your tank if she has one in stock.  If you are having one filled, like I do, then you will either have to drop it off with her and hope that she can get it filled the next time she's over in Decatur or you will have to take it to Koorsen fire and safety.  That is where I will be taking mine from now on.

They are located south of A&M off of Meridian St

3704 Wholesale Circle Northeast
Huntsville, AL 35811-1554
(256) 536-0786
The dude there blew off what pressure was left (hold your ears) and filled it in about 10 min.  I'm sure you could drop it off and pick it up if they were busy.  I don't remember the price but it was very reasonable.

I take mine to M-H fire safety in scottsboro. I have the bigger tank and it costs $16 to fill it.

I think I'll just run over to Decatur tomorrow and get it filled again.  I've got another errand or two I can do in Decatur tomorrow anyway.  I'd like to keep my tank so an exchange doesn't really fit the bill for me.

Either way, this thread should serve as a good resource for everybody in the future.

I got it filled at J&M in Decatur - see post above for location.

10lb tank - $16.05 out the door.
Filled while I waited, just took a few minutes.
Nice folks, family run business.

May need to run down there for lunch one day and get it done.  I don't like exchanging either.

Paul,
If you have a handle on it you may want to take it off as they had a hard time with mine the first time I went in there.  I've taken it off before taking it in every time since then.  Just hard to get the nozzle fitting on and off of it when they are filling it.  Plus, I think it can screw up the tare weight.  Guages, too, probably ought to come off.

No gauges on mine, just a fixed regulator.  Does have a black plastic handle.  It freely spins though.  I'll see about taking that off.

How long did it take to get filled?

Was that for an exchange or did they fill *your* tank?
