Hey, I was wondering, what's the best way to give an axle a bit of color? Is it powder coating or would the less expensive rattle can method work just as well and be easier to maintain?

Can you paint the springs? I know...the constant compression and decrompression won't help any coloration you might put with a spring, but would you powder coat those?

Like I said, I want to give my jeep a little more "Hey Look At ME!!" to it...and I thought that working on giving it a little color wouldn't be a bad idea.

Best is powder coating, but its quite expensive compared to rattlecan.

I painted the springs on mine before I installed them.....but you cant tell it now, the paint has a fine coating of crud that wont come off even w/ the pressure washer.  I like to think of it as a fine patina, gained from many miles offroad and various species of mud from Moab, Mt Antero, Coalmine, Windrock, Tellico and other places.....

How about some of that bass-boat type bright red with metalflake?  And some chrome "truck-nutz" dangling out behind?  And when its parked at Publix, put some mirrors on the ground under it so the sheeple pushing carts by can look down and admire it!

Oh, and dont forget the mandatory fart-can exhaust......

No...but a knowledge of how NOT to tear up that pretty investment that's sitting in my driveway might. Just because I wanna give my Jeep a visually appealing perspective DOES NOT mean that I want to turn it into a show car street queen.

I and still a frim believer that the color of earth splattered against the sides of your vehicle can really bring out the color in your paint ^.^

check on pirate 4x4 forum and look around, ask them this question, they will point you in the right direction and give you some very good ideas.
